There’s something exciting about watching a young cigar company hustle. They’ve got the vision and the drive; they usually have some angle to work; and hopefully they have the tobaccos and cigars to back it all up. Luckily for Reinier Lorenzo he did. In 2011 he founded HVC as a way of paying homage to Havana City where he lived for most of his life. He was inspired by his upbringing to keep the Cuban tradition of hand-made cigars alive and well. His focus is mainly on outstanding, small-crop Nicaraguan tobaccos that remind him of home. Each cigar in the HVC portfolio is a unique experience that in some way or another pays homage to his hometown. We jumped on the HVC band wagon early on, and it has been a pleasure to watch this outstanding upstart company gain traction and attention.

The HVC Pan Caliente is a fantastic addition to the growing HVC line up. What is Pan Caliente? It’s a popular Cuban slang expression for hotcakes or pancakes. These excellent cigars are as easy to love as the breakfast treat too. Made entirely of Nicaraguan Aganorsa tobaccos and rolled in their factory, Pan Caliente is approachable and well balanced. Using an uncommon 109-style cap (old Cuban style), these delicious cigars feature tasting notes of earth, coffee, nuts, and pepper along with hints of raisin sweetness, cedar, and leather. These excellent medium-strength cigars are among HVC’s most popular cigars.
