In 1843, a German banker named Hermann Upmann moved to Havana, Cuba to open an import/export business for a German firm that bought and sold tobaccos. In 1844, he purchased a small local cigar factory, and soon after the first H. Upmann cigar was born. Hermann could never have imagined that his little endeavor would become one of the world’s best known cigar brands. He was known for his innovation in the tobacco business and is credited with being the first cigar maker to package his cigars in cedar boxes.

Every H. Upmann cigar on the market today was created to pay homage to the originator of the brand, Hermann Upmann. But when the brand’s blender’s set out to create Herman’s Batch, their goal was to create a cigar that would honor its founder’s elegance and refined taste. They succeeded in their task thanks to an excellent blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, a Dominican binder, and a double-fermented and well aged Ecuadorian wrapper leaf. Tasting notes include flavors of earth, natural tobacco, cocoa with hints of citrus, pepper, and cedar. The H. Upmann Herman’s Batch is a delightful cigar that has well balanced flavors that never overpower. It is elegant, refined, and a great addition to the Upmann portfolio.
