Blackbird Limited Edition Macaw

Can’t clip my wings! That’s the moto of this upstart, boutique cigar company. Blackbird Cigar Co. produces some really interesting sticks using great tobaccos. They also own their own factory in the Dominican Republic where they can control production from raw material to finished product. While the brand is young (it launched in 2019), their debut products created quite a stir in the industry. Each cigar blend they produce is named after a bird or bird related. I know what you’re thinking: Unkind is not a bird. Correct. But, as there was already a Raven cigar in existence, the brand owner chose Unkind as a flock of Ravens is called an unkindness. Pretty creative if you ask us, and their cigar Blackbird Unkind is just as inventive.

The Blackbird Limited Edition Macaw is the first limited edition product from boutique Dominican manufacturer, Blackbird Cigar Co. This tremendous new offering is a bit of a “flex” to show off the capabilities of what they can achieve. Their regular production lines have been a massive success thanks to their combination of bold packaging and dynamic blends. The formula for the Macaw is no different, but turned up to 11. The blend uses 4 distinct Dominican leaves (Corojo, 2 types of Criollo 98, and Piloto Cubano) and U.S.A. Pennsylvania tobacco for the filler core. The binder is an Indonesian Sumatra, and the wrapper is a beautiful and dark Cuban-Seed Brazilian leaf. This box-pressed beauty features tasting notes of cedar, black pepper, and coffee with hints of leather and earth.
