Aganorsa Leaf Arsenio is a limited-production tribute to the late Arsenio Ramos, the respected blender whose work played an important role in shaping Aganorsa Leaf's cigar portfolio. Introduced for PCA 2024, this commemorative release honors his legacy through a tobacco-forward Nicaraguan blend built around one of Aganorsa's signature varietals: Corojo grown in Jalapa.
The blend features an Aganorsa-grown Jalapa Corojo wrapper surrounding two Nicaraguan binders and a core of Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. This all-Nicaraguan composition showcases the distinctive characteristics of Aganorsa-grown leaf, pairing the aromatic spice and natural sweetness of Corojo with the richer earthy qualities of the binder and filler tobaccos.
Generally medium to full-bodied, Aganorsa Leaf Arsenio offers tasting notes that may be reminiscent of cedar, roasted nuts, earth, espresso, leather, black pepper, baking spice, cocoa, and natural tobacco sweetness. Cedar and earthy characteristics can provide the foundation of the profile, while pepper, roasted notes, and Corojo-driven spice contribute additional intensity. Subtle sweetness provides contrast as the cigar develops. Individual flavor, aroma, strength, construction, and overall smoking characteristics may vary by cigar and individual palate.
The Jalapa Corojo wrapper is a defining element of Arsenio, bringing together the spice, aroma, and natural tobacco sweetness often associated with Corojo while allowing the Nicaraguan interior to contribute additional depth. The dual-binder construction further distinguishes the blend, creating a layered expression centered on Nicaraguan tobacco and Aganorsa Leaf's blending heritage.
Production is intentionally limited across three sizes. According to the release information, 2,000 boxes each of the Robusto and Toro are being produced, along with 1,500 boxes of the Corona, giving Arsenio added appeal for enthusiasts and collectors interested in small-production Aganorsa Leaf releases.
For adult cigar enthusiasts drawn to Aganorsa-grown tobacco, Jalapa Corojo, Nicaraguan puros, medium-to-full-bodied profiles, and limited releases, Aganorsa Leaf Arsenio offers a compelling addition to the humidor. With layers of cedar, earth, roasted nuts, espresso, pepper, cocoa, warm spice, and natural sweetness, Arsenio serves as a distinctive tribute to an influential figure in Aganorsa Leaf's blending history.
