Warped Cigars is another tale of the boutique cigar company that could. Launched in 2009, the brand was founded by then 29 year old Kyle Gellis, making him one of the youngest cigar brand owners around. He had a string of early hits like La Colmena and Futuro that helped cement his place in the industry. He does not own a factory, but partners with select manufacturers to produce his brands. The factories he works with the most are El Titan de Bronze in Miami and Aganorsa Leaf in Nicaragua. Both factories are able to create the boutique, quality cigars that are Gellis’ focus. Only producing a total of 115,000 to 200,000 cigars per year, Warped places a focus on quality rather than quantity.
Warped Nicotina is a unique blend for Kyle Gellis and Warped cigars. It is their first blend to be full bodied and full strength. Nicotina is a brand name that dates back to 1880 in Cuba, and this cigar is packed with Nicaraguan tobaccos to create the blend. Made at the Aganorsa Leaf cigar factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, Nicotina also uses tobacco grown by Aganorsa for this unique creation. This Nicaragua puro features Corojo ‘99 and Criollo ‘98 filler tobaccos, a Criollo ’98 binder, and a Corojo ‘99 wrapper. While the blend is Medium-Full in strength for most palates, this blend is the strongest Warped cigar ever produced and it still offers that signature balance and complexity that Warped is known for. Tasting notes include flavors of leather, oak, and pepper with hints of earth, caramel, and coffee. It’s a great blend that retains the Warped signature profile while offering a much stronger blend than they have ever offered before.
