American Stogies cigars are made by Nestor Plasencia in Nicaragua. If you're not familiar with the name "Nestor Plasencia", you have more than likely smoked a cigar made in his factory. His factories produce cigars for companies like Rocky Patel, Torano, Casa Magna and many more. He is probably the most prolific cigar manufacturer that you have never heard of. Besides making cigars for the quote, un-qoute big boys in the industry, he also makes a tremendous amount of cigars for many smaller manufacturers. Which brings me to today's special. The American Stogies line of cigars is made for a company called Indian Head Cigar Co. Indian Head is rub by a pair of 60 year veterans of the cigar/tobacco industry. That's 60 years each. So, you could say these guys know a thing or two. They have always excelled at making good quality premium cigars, but their execution of packaging and marketing has not always been the greatest. Case in point - American Stogies. These are some great cigars that were initially priced at a very attainable price point. Today it's a whole heck of a lot better.

American Stogies are available in two wrappers, Connecticut and Maduro. The American Stogies Maduro are produced in Nicaragua using tobacco from 4 countries: Nicaragua, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. The Maduro uses a dark and oily Brazilian-grown Connecticut Broad leaf Maduro wrapper is simply gorgeous. The tobacco is blended to produce a totally unique, rich, and full-flavored smoke. Each cigar is aged at least eighteen months before it is boxed and shipped to ensure proper burn and flavor. For the Connecticut, Nestor started with a select crop of 4 year old Honuran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. He then caps this beauty off with a 5 year old, slow aged Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut wrapper. This wrapper is the key ingredient that truly makes this cigar so special. The connecticut wrapper smooths out the blned to create a creamy flavored, mild-to-medium bodied smoke. The box-pressed construction is absolutely perfect. It has an easy draw and burns very well producing a thick ash.
